SSAB Zero™ steel is made using recycled steel and fossil-free energy.
The SSAB Zero™ EPDs and Certificate of Carbon Emissions is available on ssab.com. The availability of SSAB Zero™ products is subject to limitations and conditions of delivery have to be agreed upon separately.
Normalized or normalized rolled structural steel heavy plate. SSAB S355J2+N Zero is hot rolled structural steel for general steel constructions. N= Normalized.
Exceeding the requirements of EN 10025-2, SSAB S355J2+N Zero is a versatile structural steel for fabricated products and steel frame structures. Formability and highly consistent quality guarantee fast, uninterrupted production, generating clear savings in the costs of material management.
SSAB S355J2+N Zero is available in thickness of 6.00 - 60.00 mm.
The mechanical properties are tested transverse to the direction of rolling.
Thickness according to EN 10029 Class C.
Width and length according to EN 10029.
Flatness according to EN 10029 Class N.
Surface according to EN 10163-2 Class A subclass 1.
Normalized rolled.
Shot blasted & primed surface is available upon request.
EN 10204-3.1+CE for S355J2/+N EN 10025-2.
Welding:
Weldability is excellent with all welding processes. Increased working temperature requirements are less than those of the corresponding strength grades of standard steels. This means easier welding and cost savings under both workshop and site welding conditions.
Needed working temperatures for thick plates please consult SSAB Tech Support.
Forming:
SSAB S355J2+N Zero offers better formability properties than standard steels. Successful forming requires that the manufacturer uses good workshop techniques. Worn tools, poor lubrication, scratches on the surface of the steel as well as edge burrs will all reduce forming quality.
Guaranteed minimum bending radius for all directions is 1.5 x t up to 30 mm thick plate where t = plate thickness.
Heat treatment:
Recommendations for stress relieving and normalizing
Stress relieving 550 – 600°C (target 580°C)
2 minutes/millimeter of thickness, however, 30 minutes minimum. Slow cooling in the furnace.
Normalizing 900 – 940°C (target 920°C)
1 minute/millimeter of thickness, however, 20 minutes minimum. Cooling in free air.
For information concerning fabrication, see SSAB´s brochures on www.ssab.com or consult Tech Support.
Appropriate health and safety precautions must be taken when bending, welding, cutting, grinding or otherwise working on the products.
